Midwestern Floods

No Hollywood celebrities holding telethons asking for help.

No looters. No rapes. No murders.

No one in the media is asking tough questions about why the Federal Government hasn't solved the problem.

No one is being relocated by the Government to free hotels.

Spike Lee won't say the Federal Government blew up the levees that failed in Des Moines or Hannibal, MO.

No Sean Penn.  No Dixie Chicks.

No one is declaring that George Bush hates white, rural people.

There's none of it.

There's just a lot of people helping each other until the waters subside.

In case you had forgotten Mark Powell

Blast e-mail from Mark Powell today. He, of course, was not asking for money.

He, of course, will also not be the nominee on the Democratic side of the isle.

Here are a list of his true friends, I mean, endosements:

Rumors are flying...

Washington Post, St. Louis Post or CNN?

Is it more Spitzer or McGreevey?

I've always been a Nets fan.

Dedicated to Tony's Kansas City

I'd like to dedicate this post to our friend over at Tony's Kansas City blog.

It is not a political post in any way.

I just think it will mess with his head for a few minutes.

Young Dems clobber Young Repubs

Congrats to the Young Dems who clobbered the Young Repubs today on the softball field.

Are you voting Republican?

Peter Kinder plays 'pitcher' - not 'catcher'

As Peter Kinder's Chief of Staff would say, "If there's grass on the field - play ball!"

But Kinder comes up short:

I'll take you back seven or eight years ago when Lt. Gov. Kinder threw out the ceremonial first pitch at a St. Louis Cardinals game.

Now, he didn't just stroll out there having not picked up a ball in years and just chuck the ball up there.  He practiced…a lot.  So much in fact, his sore arm prevented him from making it the mandatory 60 feet, six inches to the glove of third base coach Jose Oquendo.  Instead, the ball one hopped well short of his target.

This is the only published article citing Kinder as being six inches short...thus far.

Hillary's "Ask"

Hillary refused to concede last night, and after a drawn out speech - she dropped her website: www.HillaryClinton.com.

In case you didn't understand: That was a fundraiser. She was hoping that all those people who give online will flood the inbox with contributions and notes like, "never give up Hil".

I can't decide if that little maneuver was brilliant or tasteless.

Republican Leaders Discuss Issues with Missourians (NOT)

Continuing to force feed political rhetoric and refusing to have informed conversations with Missourians...Steelman, Hulshof, and Kinder are blowing off the GOP Women's Candidates Forum.

The Springfield News-Follower reports

The Taney County Federated Republican Women group is giving voters a chance to meet GOP candidates seeking offices ranging from governor to county coroner.

State Treasurer Sarah Steelman and U.S. Rep. Kenny Hulshof, the two leading Republicans vying for governor, are not scheduled to attend.

Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder is not scheduled to attend . . .

Pictured above:  "Suspenders" Steelman, Rap Star Kenny "Hu-Hu" Hushof, and "Thumbs up if you really really wanna kiss a girl" Kinder all say, "Public forum? Fuck no!"

If Republican leaders are refusing to have public forums now - just imagine how willing they're going to be to be on the stage with Democrats in the fall.

McCaskill will be Obama's VeeP

I don't care how much of a feminist or biggot or racist or NASCAR fan you are - one thing cannnot be denied:

CLAIRE MCCASKILL MAKES MISSOURI PROUD

This woman is a free thinker, a strong voice, and still a warm human being. (I'm not saying Hillary comes off cold sometimes...buuuuuttt...)

We all hear the rumors about VP selections - but I can't find a reason for Obama to not choose Claire. As Colbert says in the below clip, "Your statements universally inspire applause." He's right. If Obama defeats Hillary, he's going to need (think he needs) to appease women. If the polls are true and he's 12 points behind McCain in MO, an independent, intelligent women from Missouri could really help him in the heartland. He could win Missouri with Claire, and he could play better in Kansas, Michigan, and maybe even Iowa and Ohio. (Florida, however is TBD).

Here's that clip from the Colbert Report:
