Dave Drebes 'hits' it!
Great post today Dave on calling the Governor's bluff on the word 'hits'.
The Governor's 7million hits story says 2 things:
1. The Governor and his staff are willing to mislead the public and expect them to be ignorant.
2. The public is in fact still ignorant when it comes to the internet.
Dave's story reminded me of a similar boastfulness, not in 2001, but in 2006 from NoSource basement blogger, Jabba the Roe:
JEFF ROE, Republican Consultant: ...They really can cause a movement. My blog gets 5,000 hits a day.
KWAME HOLMAN: Republican operative Jeff Roe is Roy Temple's online rival of sorts. He runs "The Source," which promotes GOP news and views and singles out Democratic failings. Roe says he and Temple aren't typical bloggers.
JEFF ROE: In other states, it's more of the 18-year-old college Republican, or college Democrat, or the Howard Dean fan, or the 50-year-old in his basement with his bottle of vodka next to his computer, ranting and raving.
If you care - MOPO has gotten 409 visitors since midnight (it's 9:11am now). We get a morning bump, a later afternoon bump, and another bump between 7:30pm and 8:30pm on most weekdays. And here's what Dave is looking for...MOPO has had 283 Absolute Unique Visitors in the last seven days. We'll take it a step further...Bounce Rate...MOPO is at a Bounce Rate of 56.19% in 2008 - which is up drastically from this time last year. I blame our lack of quality posts. A good bounce rate is 35%.
